Workshop | Toni Hartill | Prints Repurposed
Saturday, 2 May, 1pm – 4pm | $75
Room 11, Studio One, Toi Tū, 1 Ponsonby Road.
Transform your reject prints into unique sculptural forms and tactile artist’s books.
Discover the creative world of artist’s books in this hands-on, exploratory workshop! We’ll kick things off with a fun introduction to artist’s books as a unique form of artistic expression, then dive into transforming old prints, rejected artworks, and found materials into sculptural, tactile book forms.
You’ll start by making simple models of each structure before experimenting with playful variations. A range of inspiring examples will be on hand to spark ideas and show what’s possible.
From there, you’ll choose one (or several!) structures to develop into your own sculptural artist’s book using your own prints or any materials you’d like to repurpose. The emphasis throughout is on curiosity, play, and experimentation—perfect for generating fresh ideas and exciting directions for future work.
What to bring:
- Old or reject prints and scraps and/or found papers to repurpose.
- Own basic tools, including cutting mat, craft knife, metal ruler, glue stick, bone folder (optional)
- A notebook and pen/pencil for taking notes.
