PF25 Print Commission Limited Edition Print

Each year, we select a promising, young, emerging artist who has shown a commitment to exploring print as part of their art practice.  We then commission a limited edition of 30 silk-screen prints that can be purchased by festival supporters.

This year’s recipient is Brie Rate, an Auckland based artist whose practice includes drawing, printmaking and paper-making. Her work explores mark making using both conventional mediums like pencil and ink, as well as assemblages of found organic and recycled material. Brie is interested in local ecologies, especially where natural and urban histories intersect.

Whanganui Dreamscape II was completed during her recent three month residency at the Glasgow Street Arts Centre Artists in Residence Programme in Whanganui in 2024. She was also a finalist in the Parkin Drawing Prize 2024.
