Workshop | Gemma Thompson | Drawing Into Print: Soundwalking
Saturday, 2 May, 9am – 12pm | $75
Room 11, Studio One, Toi Tū, 1 Ponsonby Road.
Experience soundwalking with artist Gemma Thompson.
This exciting new workshop focuses on expressive and experimental mark-making resulting from slowing down and tuning into the sounds of your surrounding environment while walking.
As you walk, you’ll record the soundscape as various lines, marks and textures. Once back in the studio, these drawings will be transformed into simple drypoint prints using recycled Tetra Pak.
Gemma will guide you through inking and printing your drypoints into unique edition to take home with you. Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique where images are carved into a plate, inked, and then printed under pressure using a press to create richly detailed prints.
Spaces are limited. Book early to avoid disappointment! Age: 18 +
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit inky.
- All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favourite drawing tools and a sketchbook.
