Print Prize
The PRINTOPIA Print Prize and Exhibition is a new initiative to promote experimentation and innovation in contemporary printmaking in Aotearoa.
To encourage and inspire young and emerging artists from across the country to engage with printmaking, there is a category for secondary students, tertiary students and an open section. The selected finalists will have their work exhibited at The Printopia Festival of Original Print, 5 – 7 May 2023 at Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson, Auckland.
The judges will announce the winners and award the prizes at the opening reception on Friday 5 May. During the weekend visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Winners will receive a combination of cash prizes and vouchers for Permaset’s award winning screen-printing products recognized as the world’s number one environmentally friendly screen-printing inks.
To support a spirit of experimentation and innovation, submissions can use a combination of different printmaking techniques but must include at least one layer of Permaset ink. Works can be collaborative and need to be accompanied by an artist statement outlining the idea behind the piece. Prints can be on any substrate with a limit of 1 meter square for both 2D and 3D pieces.
