Workshop Sandra Waine

Workshop | Sandra Waine | Printing with Stamps

Sunday, 3 May, 2pm – 3:30pm | $75

Room 11, Studio One, Toi Tū, 1 Ponsonby Road.

Join Sandra Waine as she guides you through the techniques for carving your very own bespoke, rubber stamps.

In this fun, hands-on workshop learn the tips and tricks to easily transfer your images onto the rubber surface, select the best tool to achieve the level of detail you need, and how to balance both negative and positive space.

Once your stamps are carved, have fun creating a series of gift cards, tags and wrapping paper to take home with you, as well as your two bespoke stamps and a mini ink pad.

What to bring:

  • Bring along some images for inspiration. Your stamps will be 5cm x 5cm square.
  • All materials provided.
  • Clothes you don’t mind getting inky.

About the artist:

Sandra Waine is a printmaker currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her love of lino block printing was inspired by her aunt’s woodcuts and rekindled while studying fine arts at TAFE in North Sydney. In 2010 she won first prize in the Printmaking section at the Royal Easter Show and had a joint exhibition at Depot Artspace in Devonport.  Her practice includes screen-printing textiles using hand-cut stencils, block printing and rubber stamps.
