Workshop | Robynn Smith | Pastel Transfer Techniques for Monotype
Sunday, 3 May, 9am – 12pm | $75
Room 11, Studio One, Toi Tū, 1 Ponsonby Road.
Pastel transfer is a great technique for using soft pastels in monotype. The technique can be used to create multi-coloured monotypes or to apply subtle areas of colour to a print without opening messy cans of ink. The pastel technique yields vibrant colour on its own, soft, subtle ghost prints and can be combined with any other print technique such as photopolymer printing, copper etching, woodcut, etc. to create rich, layered prints.
In this workshop, you’ll create soft chalk pastel drawings on drafting paper which will then be inked and put through the press onto Italian cotton rag paper. Ghost printing, tinting the extender and other variations will be covered as well.
There is only one workshop so don’t wait – get your tickets now! Suitable for beginners. 18+
What to bring:
- Imagery or drawings for inspiration (optional).
- Clothes you don’t mind getting inky.
