Tia Brady | Printing in Paradise: Crafting a Life as a Printmaking Entrepreneur in Maui

Saturday, 2 May, 11:00am – 11:45am | Free

Join Tia Brady as she shares her journey towards creating a sustainable living through her passion for printmaking in Maui, Hawaii.

Her experience as a small business owner will also be divulged, including her transition from full time retail management to self-employment, the process of fabricating a shipping container into a print studio, and how she diversifies her income to make it work as an artist on Maui.

She’ll talk about her experiences as the print studio manager at the historic Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, with all the joys of running a very old, very beautiful space and how crucial it is for the art community on Maui.

She’ll share tips learned from her thriving mobile printmaking business, and how she was able to use it to help the community after the Lahaina fires as well as other causes.

As the social media manager for Print Day in May, she also has a lot to share about creating, capturing, and planning content, as well as the benefits taking advantage of algorithm and feed as both an entrepreneur and teacher.

Finally, she will explore her artistic process and the cultural influences of Hawaii on her work, and her overall commitment to sharing her love of printmaking with her community. Printmaking has been her brand since the age of 16 and it has led her on a remarkable journey. She hopes to connect with printmakers that are interested in visiting Maui to teach and spread awareness of Print Day in May!
