Join artist Judy Gordon for an immersive workshop using silk aquatint, an accessible, non-toxic alternative print technique that beautifully replicates the rich tonal variations and visual depth of traditional aquatints.

In this workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience making your own aquatint plate, learning how to select the right type of silk to create an effective aquatint plate and gaining an understanding of the importance of preparing an appropriate matrix for the silk.

Under Judy’s expert guidance, explore the different effects created by various types of media applied to the print matrix, enhancing your artistic versatility.

Experience the complete printing process as you ink and print your aquatint plate, using non-toxic inks on Japanese paper from the Awagami Papermill in Japan.

This workshop is designed for artists of all levels, from beginners to those with prior printmaking experience. Participants will leave with a series of original prints and a deeper understanding of silk aquatint techniques, enriched by Judy’s artistic insights.
